Welcome!

Welcome to the website for the 30th Gibbs Conference on Biothermodynamics (Gibbs30). This year's conference will be held from September 24 through 27 at the Touch of Nature Conference Center in Carbondale, IL. The conference will focus on the energetics, dynamics, and interactions of biological macromolecules. As always, we expect a great meeting and welcome your active participation.

Participation in the Gibbs conference is is a two-step process. Individuals wishing to participate should fill out an application here. The application process involves submitting your contact information a preliminary abstract. Application preference is given to those who submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation. Accepted applicants are then asked to register at a later time. This two-step process is necessary due to recent conference oversubscription.

News and Updates

September 28 - Thank you to everyone who helped to make this year's conference a success! Participants have been sent a survey - please look for that in your inbox and take a few minutes to tell us what you thought of this year's conference. Next year's organizers are Scott Showalter (Penn State) and Ana-Maria Soto (Towson). Please get in touch with them if you have questions about Gibbs31.

September 20 - Less than a week to go! Participants staying in cabins have been notified, and everything is shaping up for a great conference. Please email Sarah or Nick if you have any last minute questions or requests.

September 1 - A preliminary conference program has been posted and sent to registered participants. If you are flying in to STL, please be sure to indicate on our Ride Sharing Website if you are willing to give a ride from the airport to Gibbs! We will contact those participants staying in cabins shortly.

August 22 - All registered participants have been notified, and we do not expect to invite anyone else from the waiting list. We had a record number of applicants - far more than we could accommodate. If you weren't selected for Gibbs this year, please apply again next year for Gibbs31.

July 16 - The conference is currently oversubscribed. More than 240 people have applied, and Touch of Nature can only accommodate a maximum of 200 participants. While the popularity this year is great news, overflow appliants will be placed on a waiting list until registration numbers are finalized. We will notify applicants of their status by July 22.

May 14 - The website is now live! The application and abstract submission information is available here.
